Confessions of a Liberal Queer Neurodivergent Minister

Unapologetically all of the above, with sprinklings of various forms of nerdiness

A Bit Of Whimsy…

This is the personal page of the Rev. Johnnie Bloom-Ramirez, a Liberal, Queer, Neurodivergent Minister who moonlights as a flight attendant, sometimes is a king (or Queen) and is always a father and husband.

CONSUMPTION WARNING:

may cause thoughts of empathy, compassion, silliness, whimsy, and might even draw a tear or two…

I am a Liberal, Queer, Neurodivergent, Disney-loving, Reenactment, art, and theology nerd. I am also a minister and flight attendant. I live in the Silicon Valley with my amazing Veteran husband, and my adult culinary-afficianado son.

This is a glimpse into my life, and the things I find compeling, important, and necessary. In these pages I hope that you will discover questions that stretch you, thoughts to provoke you, things to make you feel joy and things that make you angry. My deepest hope is that you will walk away from these pages inspired and maybe I will have succeeded in my goals.

If liberal religion, values and ethics are not your thing, you don’t like to think too hard, you have no empathy or sympathy for your fellow humans, you don’t enjoy drag as art, you don’t enjoy Disney as escapism, you hate LGBTQIA+ people, dogs and puppies, cats and kittens, otters, giraffes, or any other animals on this earth, and you dislike cheese, then please, find yourself a place that suits you better!

A simple ritual while meditating on a bonfire (though, because this was in a santuary/church, the bonfire was a lovely YouTube video!). Spirit of Life, Spirit of Love, Shining Nonbinary…

  • I Don’t Like My Birthday

Today I celebrate 47 rotations around the sun. I don’t particularly feel like I am 47 years old. What I mean about that is that I don’t look like, sound like, or behave like the 47 year olds I grew up around. I don’t look 47 – and while that looks are subjective, I’ve been…

  • How Do You Listen?

by: Rev. Johnnie Bloom-Ramirez When you hear positive feedback, how do you listen? Do I hear it as an affirmation of your work, your time, and your effort, or Do you hear it as a hammer poised to strike in our heart of hearts? A thinly veiled attempt to humor you. When you feel good,…
